Build Lasting Relationships To Grow Your Business

By dbrwn

Talking about your business in public is a wonderful thing to do. However, what you have to remember is that you shouldn’t dominate the conversation. One of the things that I have learned from my mentors is that if you want to discuss your business with someone, ask about them first. Ask about their business and what it is that they do. If you take a genuine interest in what the other person does, then the door will be opened for you to discuss your business with them.

It is always good to take an interest in the other individual, and not appear to be pushy, or too pursuasive. Believe me, a very pushy individual will only scare people off, and that’s not what you want, or need. In the case of a networking setting where you are in a large room filled with other people who are there for the same reason that you are, it would be a great idea to bring up what was just being discussed with the individual that you are talking to. You may want to discuss viewpoints, ideas, techniques and strategies that were talked about during the talk.

You see, if you let the other individual know that you have been paying attention to the presentation, then they will hopefully recognize you as a strong authority figure, and they may then listen to you and what you have to say about your business. However, like I said, make sure first that you take a genuine interest in them first before you talk about yourself.

If you want to do a joint venture with someone, it is always good to first get to know them and their business. You don’t want to JV with someone to whom you know nothing about. That would be a huge mistake. Not only that, but the more that you know about a particular individual and their business, the more likely you’ll get in. Who knows, maybe their business and your business has some similarities that the both of you could work with in the JV.

Networking really isn’t all that difficult to do. You just need to know how to do it. You see, if you can properly network with people in a public setting, you stand a much better chance at really presenting yourself and your business. After all, This is something that is for the both of you, not just one individual.

I am amazed at how many people really don’t know how to build lasting relationships these days. Their social skills must have been recieved from a Cracker Jack box, or something. The social skills of a whole lot of people seam to have gone down the drain. Probably because of things such as too much television, and maybe even too much time on the computer, or whatever else it is that they doo that keeps them away from other people.

You see, one of the most important aspects of this business is working and dealing with people on a daily basis. I hate to say it, but if you’re not a people person, then this business really isn’t for you. You will be dealing with people on a daily basis, even if it is through the keyboard. The fact is, there’s always another human being on the other end who is recieving that information that you’ve just sent. So as you can plainly see, this is indeed a people business.

The better your relationships are with others, the better your business becomes, and I am not just talking money here. You see, if you have really great relationships with other marketers, then you tend to work much better, and faster, and you tend to get more done because of your happiness with those marketers. I don’t care who you are because if you run and manage your own business, you need to begin building lasting relationships with other business owners. Believe me, this business requires the structuring of good relationships that last a lifetime.

There are many ways to build relationships, such as through blogs, ebooks, reports, web sites, audios, teleconferences, and a whole host of other things. The point is, you must build relationships if you want a business that is going to survive. The more relationships you have, the better your business becomes. That’s a fact. So get out there, begin building relationships, and watch your business thrive!
